Marketing and Communications Manager
The Marketing and Communications Manager will implement a range of activities to expand community engagement and awareness of the organization, its mission, and programs. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the ideal candidate will develop and implement a comprehensive communication and outreach strategy consistent with the organization’s strategic plan. The position will be responsible for planning, implementing, and/or supervising all aspects of marketing, outreach, and public events for the Arc of Pennsylvania. This shall include social media presence, website, publications, collateral, and major public events.
This role has primary responsibility for:
Publications and Collateral
- Responsible for writing, managing production and distribution of all print, branded materials, marketing materials and presentations.
- Assist in grant writing and design, as requested
- Coordinate the appearance of all The Arc of PA brand – print and electronic materials such as letterhead, impact report, website, social media, special projects, use of logo, brochures, etc.
- Coordinate with external graphic designers, printers, and writers as needed
- Oversee and keep the mailing list current
Digital and Website – working with the Social Media Manager
- Update and maintain organization’s website and online publications
- Curate content and execute a social media plan; schedule content, increase audience engagement on social media channels and website
- Create/edit simple videos for online use or oversee video editing contractor.
- Stay up to date on accessibility issues and assure the organization uses best practices for social media and website.
- Email marketing and communications – create and/or manage email marketing and distribution; assuring up to date email lists and segmentation, grow database through effective outreach.
Public Relations/Media/Special Events
- Oversee and organize PR activities and ensure effective communication with stakeholders, public officials, media, and the public, including the creation and distribution of press releases and media alerts.
- Serve as coordinating point of contact for media outreach and inquiries
- Assist leadership or staff for media preparation, as requested
- Maintain lists of media contacts.
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee technical assistance and resource materials to assist other staff or projects with PR, outreach, and positioning of their departmental activities and programs.
- Maintain excellent relationships and routine communication with staff at local Arc chapters.
- Identify and pursue new avenues to publicize the organization, its programs, and impact.
- Assist appropriate staff to publicize events and programs
- Manage the coordination and execution of all details for The Arc of PA public special events
- Implement crisis communications plan; keep it updated annually. During a crisis, must be available regardless of the day or time.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communication, media, or marketing; Prior experience in nonprofit marketing and public relations.
- Proven portfolio of representative work
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with graphic design tools (Adobe, Canva, etc.) and video-editing tools
- Experience with copy editing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media management tools
- Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects
- Detail oriented
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a flexible and team-oriented environment
- Professional demeanor with ability to communicate with a diverse audience of staff, media, and other organization stakeholders
- Understanding of accessible digital content principles
- Experience with MailChimp and WordPress or similar platforms
- Work experience or lived experience with disability issues a plus

Pay: $50,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
